The Audio-Visual (AV) Ministry seeks to creatively and effectively
enhance Pleasant Valley's programs and services through quality media and
technical support. The AV Ministry is comprised of volunteers (both
experienced and inexperienced) who serve primarily as Sound Technicians and
Video Technicians, but could also include Camera Operators, Video Editors,
Media Researchers, Lighting Technicians, and Stage & Set Crew. They
work together to ensure that all media and technical elements of Pleasant
Valley's programs and services are carried out with excellence.
If
you would like to get involved with the AV Ministry, contact our office at 860-446-1616.
Got questions about the AV MINISTRY?
Who gets involved with the AV Ministry?
Anyone with a desire to see
Pleasant Valley's programs and services be the best they can be. The AV
Ministry is made up of Sound Technicians and Video Technicians, Camera
Operators, Video Editors, Media Researchers, Lighting Technicians, and Stage
& Set Crew, who consider Pleasant Valley their church home.
Our
backgrounds range from active professionals to those with no prior
experience, but we strongly believe in "making" crew people of anyone with a
desire to learn. We use an on-the-job training approach to work with
you, regardless of your skill level.
What does the AV Ministry do?
We primarily responsible for setting up and operating the sound and video
presentation equipment used in our weekly programs and services.
However, special events may include the use of lighting, video cameras, and
stage equipment used to create a particular look and feel.
We're looking to expand this ministry include shooting, editing, and
producing some of the video elements you see on screen. We'd
like use not only purchased, but also original film clips to draw people in
to the services, support message points, or promote church wide events like
membership and baptism. We'd also like to pass off the responsibility for
editing Pleasant Valley's podcasts from the office staff to the AV Ministry.
And who knows, maybe even begin videocasting our services!
The crew
on the AV Ministry strongly believes that an effective use of media and
technology has great power to support and enhance the message of the church.
They're passionate about implementing these areas with creativity and
excellence at Pleasant Valley, and willing to do whatever it takes to help
create transformational moments in people's lives.
What is expected?
- Serve at least once per month. (Some Sound Technicians may be
assigned to work with a specific worship team and/or ministry and
require a more frequent commitment.)
- Continued commitment to improving your skills.
Why should I join?
The primary reason you should join this team is to experience the joy and
significance of serving God and the church. You will enter into a
genuine community of fellowship with other AV volunteers who support each
other, work hard together, and have a lot of fun. Along the way, you
will develop and refine skills in your area of specialization and gain
practical, marketable production experience.
Do I have to be a member of Pleasant Valley to join?
You do not have to be a member in order to join. However, by
joining, it is our hope that you will decide to make the commitment to go
through Membership Class this season, and officially join Pleasant Valley
family.
