ABOUT US
In the spring of 1960 a group of people, led by Elmer Sizemore, began meeting in the New London YMCA to pray and discover what interest there might be in establishing a Southern Baptist church here in Southeastern Connecticut.

From those initial meetings, Pleasant Valley Baptist Church was birthed - moving from the YMCA to Pleasant Valley School to our present location on the corner of Grove Avenue and Walker Hill Road.

There have been many changes over the years, including a denominational change - we're now an independent, non-denominational church and a name change.  Pleasant Valley has been, is, and will continue to be a diverse congregation representing people from a variety of backgrounds, nations, races and ages.  Pleasant Valley is an autonomous, self-governing local church established on the pattern of the New Testament early church.  Using the Book of Acts as a blueprint, the church is structured with local ordained elders.  We are networked with other churches in the area at a variety of levels to join hands with their congregations, ministries, resources, and abilities, to even further impact the world around us.

Pleasant Valley meets Sundays at 10:30am.

Come expecting to be warmly welcomed, to hear lively, contemporary worship, and a message that's relevant to your life.  We hope you'll take the opportunity to come experience Pleasant Valley for yourself in the very near future.
